Excursions into the Salzburger Land region
There are many excursion possibilities in the Salzburger Land region and the bordering Steiermark.
HERE ARE SOME OF THE MANY POSSIBILITES:
Pilgrim Church Wallfahrtskirche Filzmoos
Our Pilgrim Church "zum Filzmoos Kindl" is one of the gems in the area. Also well worth seeing is the original chapel a few metres below the church on the left-hand side (100 m from the village square in the direction of the roundabout). It is usual by the way to pray to get children in the Wallfahrtskirche!

Filzmooser Hofalmen
The Hofalmen mountain pastures in Filzmoos - Unterhof- and Oberhofalm – are popular excursion destinations at the foot of the Bischofsmütze. Take a walk to the Almsee - it’s absolutely idyllic!

City of Salzburg
Always worth a trip. Worth seeing is the historic old town – the Cathedral – the Getreidegasse – the Makartsteg – the market square and the Mirabellgarten. Also well worth a visit are the Hohensalzburg Fortress and the Festspielhäuser, venue of the famous music festival. An absolute must is also the castle Lustschloß Hellbrunn with its ornamental fountains and the Tiergarten.

Our southern local mountain – the Rossbrand – can be reached by car coming from Radstadt. Curved mountain roads, impressive vantage points and the Radstädter Hütte mountain tavern.

dachstein
Starting at Ramsau, the Dachstein can be reached via cable car on the Hunerkogel (2,700 m). Glacier area!
Schladming round tour
Alpenhof - Filzmoos - Hachau - Ramsau (route of the cross-country skiing World Cup 1999) - Schladming (location of the World Cup) - Mandling (Loden Steiner – visit to a factory and sales) - Radstadt - Altenmarkt - Eben - Alpenhof

St. Johann im Pongau with the Liechtensteinklamm gorge
Our district capital is a lovely shopping town. The cathedral, the "Pongauer Dom" is always worth a visit. For children there is an excellent playground at Alpendorf. You should definitely visit the world-famous Liechtensteinklamm gorge with its wildly romantic ravine waterfall. You need about 1 hour to walk it – make sure to take wet-weather clothing.

salzbergwerk hallein
In Hallein or Hallstatt. Guided tours into the mountain – also interesting for children.
Tipp: In bad weather go as early as possible as there are long queues during rainy weather.
salzkammergut
The lake landscape can be reached from here via the Lammertal – Gschütt pass. Coming back, it is well worth going via Postalm. St. Gilgen, St. Wolfgang with the Weissen Rössl, the Schafsbergbahn and the Mondsee. Also worth visiting is Hallstadt, a small but lovely cultural town.

Drive in the direction of the Gschütt pass – turn right in Gosau. Wildly romantic mountain lakes and a cable car to the Zwieselalm mountain pasture.

Giant Ice World in Werfen
In Werfen or Obertraun, the ice caves are well worth seeing. Dress warmly. Also for the ice caves go early if the weather is bad and you’ll save a lot of time.
GROSSGLOCKNER
The highest mountain in Austria - the Großglockner-Hochalpenstrasse high mountain road is an experience every time. At the entrance to the Grossglockner high alpine road is also the wildlife park Ferleiten, a great wildlife park with an excellent playground for your children.
